In the evenings, at least once a week, the guys group together to rehearse new material for upcoming shows and events. What started out as just a couple of guys getting together to play for the fun and love of music, quickly turned into a second job, but they still kept it a fun thing to do. For more than eight years, Greeley's Reel has evolved from a kitchen/basement band in Upper Island Cove, to one of the most enjoyable party bands on the Avalon Peninsula. Greeley's Reel are known for their bone-chilling harmonies, and their great mixture of Irish, Newfoundland, Folk, and Bluegrass Music, with crowd pleasing jigs and reels, and shanty's such as "The Islander" and "Excursion Around The Bay". In February of 2004, with the help of a great musician and friend, Greeley's Reel, along with Dave Fitzpatrick, formerly of The Fables, began work on their very first CD. Over the course of four months, many nights and weekends were spent recording to clue up any unfinished material for their release before the summer months. Hard work and dedication was shown by all. Greeley's Reel have seen a lot of air play on radio stations all across Newfoundland and Labrador, and even Eastern Canada. With the success of their self-titled debut CD, Greeley's Reel, they made a follow up album in October 2007 titled "The Valley Road Sessions", They decided to record songs which have not been recorded in a long time, and are very proud of this project. In November of 2004, Greeley's Reel performed at The Music Industry Association Awards Gala with The Ennis Sisters. Since then, They have shared the stage with such names as Rex Goudie, Trooper, Honeymoon Suite,Shanneyganock, The Fables, The Masterless Men, The Irish Descendants, The Celtic Connection, The Government Rams, Dermot O'Reilly, Fergus O'Byrne, The Punters, Siochanna, The Mahones, and the list goes on. Greeley's Reel have been very busy over the past couple of months playing numerous gigs throughout the Avalon, and especially O'Reillys Irish Newfoundland Pub on George Street in St. John's. In July of 2005, they were delighted when they were asked to play the George Street Festival, one of the biggest shows held in the province all year long. They have also secured a regular gig at O'Reillys every five to six weeks. It seems to be getting better for them every day that goes by!!
